Free Calculation and simulation Software :
Freemat is a Mathematical and engineering calculation programming language. Great for simulation. Excellent with matrices. Can create graphs and other displays of data. Large array of internal functions. In simple terms its similar to MATLab but FreeMat is available for free.
FreeMat is a free environment for rapid engineering and scientific prototyping and data processing. It is similar to commercial systems such as MATLAB from Mathworks, and IDL from Research Systems, but is Open Source. FreeMat is available under the GPL license.
How about support and Help:
There are several sources to get help for FreeMat :
-
User Manual in PDF and HTML and Text form. See in your distribution package in:
%FREEMAT_HOME%/Contents/Resources/help
-
Built-in interactive help (Online Help), from the FreeMat Console by typing:
–> helpwin
-
Online Documentation published on this site
-
A Google Group (Forum) for user support. It is open to anyone to join and read, but you must be a member to post, and posts are moderated (necessary after the spam-bots took over the old sourceforge mailing list). The website for the URL is http://groups.google.com/group/freemat . The e-mail address for the group is freemat@googlegroups.com.
Freemat GUI with mathematical calculation
FreeMat has following capabilities and functions:
- MATLAB-style GUIs and Widgets
- Speed improvements (loops and indexing operations are 10 to 100 times faster)
- A new parser that recognizes more of the MATLAB syntax
- A debugger that is integrated with the editor
- Support for 64-bit integers
- Improved MAT-file support
- Universal binary support for Mac OS X
- New graph/plot tools to rotate, zoom and pan plots.
- Builds are now based on ATLAS for improved matrix performance
- Various bug fixes.
- Latest version of FreeMat 3.6 can be downloaded from the site for free
